At the end of the day the choice was to donate or not donate, never was there a condition that if you donated you could ask a question about what was going to happen to the dough when it reached its destination.
Now I know GH very well and he is IMO in a bit of bother emotionaly and physically so however we can improve his life at the moment is the right thing to do and hopefully he will get back to his old self but it's going to take time that's for sure.
One iron is West Ham, always has been and always will be, never have I met someone so one dimensional in his thinking and beliefs and I'm happy to have called him a friend for pushing 40 years and hope to for many more.
Anyone who wants to argue over things on this forum please fuck off and do it on another thread as this one is for OUR MATE!

I hope he spends the money on booze, drugs and a couple of fire breathing whores. If there's any left over he should waste it.
We see every day adverts from charities begging for money for kids in Africa or donkeys, donkeys for fuck sake, and people happily get out the plastic and spend.
Well I think charity begins at home and happily parted with my cash and don't give fuck what Gary spends it on.
As for One Iron, I'm proud to include him as one of my best friends for 40+ years. A stronger, truer, more honest man you will ever find.

The fund set up on here that has helped others and also paid for a hamper sent to HammerHermit was priceless absolutely made his day.
His family make him comfortable but is still poorly.

Heard a West Ham fan ,one who goes all the games he can,had real health issues so sent some money hopefully to help a little.Dont care what he spends it on.If it turns out he needs a bit more then we will all send a bit more.-End of.No need to make an issue out of it.
Hopefully will see Gary back on his feet in a few months and I am sure he will be buying the drinks..
as for One Iron I remember 40 years ago we had Sheffield Wednesday away on a night match.I was unemployed doing a course in London so had no money to go.I go home through St.Pancras so popped in the Station to say hello to any West Ham that might be there.Didnt even know One Iron to speak to.Next thing I knew he had organised a whip round for me ,paid my train fare and I was on the train to Sheffield.Thats the way he is.

I really don't think there was any harm in asking - out of polite interest rather than suspicion, I'm sure - where the money was going.
Although this really should be a lesson for everyone on here in getting travel insurance - particularly if you're already in ill-health - even if you're only going away for one night by coach.
